The Junior Swamp Bats 14U Purple softball team won the New Hampshire USA Class B state tournament today in Manchester.
In the championship game, JSB snatched the lead late to take a 7-3 victory over Lakes Region Chaos 14U Black. JSB was down 3-2 until the top of the sixth when Ari Drouin hit a sacrifice fly to center to score Cainen Avery to tie the game. Jillian Goodnow then hit a single to left to drive in what would be the winning run.
Kendall Cote toed the rubber for JSB 14U Purple. She lasted seven innings, allowing seven hits and three runs while striking out six and walking one.
JSB tallied 12 hits in the game. Avery and Ashlynn Clay each collected multiple hits for JSB, with Avery going 4-4. Madi Testo led the team with 2 RBIs.
JSB went 5-1 over the weekend to secure the title. The team’s only loss in the tournament was in pool play to Lakes Region Chaos 14U Black.
